Valewalker Sidestun fails to execute if i evade or parry before using Stunning Blade

Found out while leveling with my VW, that if i want to execute my sidestun for a mob that is passing me, all works well, if he doesnt attack me or hits me. But if i evade or parry (and only then), i get an "You fail to execute your Stunning Blade perfectly", even if i am positioned right.
Seems the evade or parry is blocking the successful execution of the sidestun.
