The dot should only put the caster in combat for the initial cast of the dot. Currently the player stays in combat for the entire dot cycle. This prevents the player from regaining speed etc.

After the cast of the dot the player should be able to get out of combat normally like any other spell.

I'm not in love with kitting but since aggro reset triggers immediate fast regen of the mobs, if this gets fixed, I don't see how kitting will be successful.
Also my experience of DoT & Run is that aggro is reset at the last tick.

Maybe in_combat and aggro are two different things tho... In which case ignore my comment.

This will be fixed by leaving mobs in combat for longer

The "resolving" of this bug has created a new one, where mobs leave combat too soon. Some times mobs will return to their camp while still taking dot damage
