I just tested the spell "Fortifying Emissary" (which should increase melee absorbtion by 25%) while my main was being attack I noticed that damage got lowered from a constant 207 damage to 197 (should of been reduced damage by 52 roughly), I also tested the long duration 9% abs buff "Essence of the Forest" and it didn't lower damage at all.
