Damage shield range vs archers

damage shields seems no more to rupt, thats fine, ty. but still the range of affect seems wrong. shot ns on max distance (1800) with my hunter and got still damage from his shard skin potion. how exactly i have to think about a "melee" damage shield hiting me on this distance (from roleplay view ;-) Think those where not supposed to do so, even the range of 1000 from a shaman damage shield feels somehow wrong, but this casted shields seems to supposed to be.

Tested and confirmed to be broken and not working as intended.
Melee damage procs and effects are typically set at 300 to account for server lag. Item description says "melee" but affects ranged damage as well.

Item description reads as follows:

i50 Strong Elixir of Shard Skin
Charged Magic Ability:
-63 Charges
-100 Max

Magical Ability:
Type: DamageShield

Anyone that hits the target with a melee attack is damaged by this protective shield.

Target: Self

Can use item every: 5 sec

archery considered meele mechanik , thats why u see the reflect .
