Kissed By Fire Event merchant doesn't recognize valid customers

I have completed the KbF event and am currently displaying the appropriate title as proof. The Event Merchant in Albion frontier town has the minipet for sale to people that completed that event, yet when I try to purchase the minipet, I get the message that I have to kill the KbF mob to be eligible to purchase the minipet.
