All classes with charm spells can level up the spell line that grants them, charm a pet and then respec to another spell line, but keep the pet.
Pulse charms are not canceled upon respeccing and will remain active without checking if the spell is still available and the fixed pet charm (like Sorc) simply never end and you keep the pet.
