weapon/armour procs - Phoenix Freeshard

Whats the best thing generally for a melee dps?

I'm using the sidi chest for the heal proc, is the abla best for all other pieces?

also weapon wise, as a merc, mainhand and offhand procs? back in the day i think i remember a dot proc being the goto thing but I can't fully remember

Dots break CC, so if they go off they will break your snares. I would think DD or lifetap, but that’s just me.

DDs and lifetaps will also break snares. If you don't want to chance breaking CC go with a mix of ablatives and heal procs. Personally I do heal on chest, gloves and boots, and ablatives on legs sleeves and helm.

Will the DD or lifetap going off on the snare style attack break that snare?

I know damage after the snare is applied breaks snare, but I didn’t know that a proc basically prevents snare from applying.

I was only talking about the weapon proc.

I think he's talking about the armor procs as he give examples what to put on chest, helm and so on. A snared/rooted target can still hit you and if your armor procs a DD/dot he/she gets free.

But what about weapon proc’ing on a snare? I may need to relook at my weapon options if a lifetap proc won’t let the snare set.

You're fine. The initial weapon damage/proc hit at the same time which is before the style effect (snare). Only dot procs have a continuous affect that triggers damage again after 4s.
