Minstrel

So when a minstrel has a pet and it gets CC or rooted or diseased (which doesnt slow them at all)
If it gets released and recharmed its root is now off and its mez is broken. Thus allowing a minstrel to have free purge 0 second timer if twisting properly. Might need some looking into so former pet stays charmed or rooted on release and recharm.

Agreed. It's been exploited like this on launch since release and hasn't changed, and still continues to be exploited.

The only cc that's not cleared on release is stun.

you can prevent that by slamming the pet and taunting it.

So rooting and messing the pet in a caster group solves my problem and should be sufficient. This is an issue and needs to be addressed as it is not working as intended. So how about instead of saying random things like just slam and taunt we bring light to the issue at hand.

This is working exactly as intended, pet charm / release has always cleared the cc on the pet.

Yes ofc it does. No matter if you taunted the pet beforehand,
as soon as the pet is released, the aggro changes to the (ex-)master.

If you want to taunt / root / mezz it for good, you have to wait until the mini is e.g. mezzed/rooted and hits the release button and the pet runs to the mini (aka is not charmed anymore).

Quite standard knowledge and tactics for paci/augh/shams/bards/droods ;-)
You will have a hard time against good minis though because they usually stay in control range of the pet and put it passive
for a good part of the way back.

As schaf already wrote, stun isnt removed my charm-re-charm. So you may also stun both - hope for the mini to (false-)release the pet, then mezz both. Works aswell.

So how do you lock down the minstrel and his pet ever? I'm rather curious because you literally are saying minstrels do no need purge for mez or root ever. So with insta charm an untouched pet that was rooted or mezzed out is now free to interrupt. I fail to see how that is working as intended... your server your rules though I guess.

This isn't to say whether it's a bad mechanic--we all know Mythic never made those.

If the Phoenix developers are serious about balance and closing holes in the game design, then they will do something about pets granting free CC break.

Why leave this in game when other questionable fixes were made that didn't need fixing, such as the 3 second reactionary window?

Fixing charmed minstrel / mentalist pets to have release mechanics like hunter charmed pets (aggro is cleared and they run back to spawn point when I tested it a few weeks ago) would not only solve the questionable breaking CC mechanic, but it would make it far easier for low level players to trade up pets. Maybe there's more of a trick to it as I'm not a very experienced mentalist, but I would tell it to stay then run off, set it into combat with the new pet I was eyeballing and control the fight to make sure it lost, or other goofy tricks instead of simply release and get a new one.

On the other hand, it would make getting a high level pet much less risky, as ultimate failure to hold it means you lose just the pet, not your life. That risk was supposed to be part of the "flavor." Is that important? I would consider balance > flavor, but definitely flavor > 0 and shouldn't be entirely ignored.

On the other end, cycling the pet to cause it to lose its own CC, I could do something similar on other pet classes: simply release the pet and pop a new one. It's especially easy on the hunter's instant dog, but other classes would at worst burn a quickcast for a new one.
